OPPORTUNITY FOR VISUAL ARTISTS
Art Exhibitions at Columbia University
Columbia University’s Office of Government and Community Affairs offers art exhibition spaces for
artists residing in upper Manhattan that do not have affiliation with Columbia University.
Exhibition spaces are located in the reception areas of the Russ Berrie Medical Science Pavilion at
1150 St. Nicholas Avenue @ 168

Street and the Lasker Biomedical Research building at 3960
Broadway @ 166

Street.
General Information
100% of artwork sale price goes to the artist
▪ Exhibits are displayed for approximately 6 weeks
▪ All artwork is installed by a professional art handler
▪ Priority is given to emerging artists
▪ Artists must reside in Manhattan on or north of 96th Street
▪ Exhibits are selected up to one year in advance
▪ Artists are responsible for the delivery and retrieval of artwork
The gallery space at Russ Berrie accommodates works that may be hung by wire and are more-or-less
flat. No freestanding artwork permitted in the space.
Exhibition space dimensions: Wall #1 is 360” long; Wall #2 is 84” long.
Height of artwork should not exceed 84”.
The gallery space at the Lasker Building accommodates works that may be hung by wire and are more-
or-less flat. No freestanding artwork permitted in the space.
Exhibition space dimensions: Wall #1 is 199” long; Wall #2 is 128” long; Wall #3 is 48” long.
Artist Applications
Application Deadline for fall 2011-spring 2012 show schedule: April 1, 2011
Please note that only complete applications will be considered
Applications must include the following
▪ Artist contact information (phone, e-mail, address, website)
▪ Artist statement
▪ Exhibition statement and description of proposed installation
▪ Resume including exhibition history
▪ At least 8-10 slides or photographs of recent artwork. Images of all artworks to be included in
show preferable but not mandatory.
▪ Image list including title, date, medium and dimensions of all images submitted with application
