All graduating students will be required to register online to participate in University Commencement and to obtain guest tickets. Guests are required to present tickets to access the ceremony either at the outdoor seating area on Low Plaza and South Field or the indoor viewing location in the Levien Gymnasium of the Dodge Fitness Center. The impressive number of graduates, along with the spatial and security constraints of campus, necessitates a limit of tickets per student. Each undergraduate student will be able to request up to four (4) tickets for their guests, and graduate students will be able to register and request up to three (3).

Important details:

  • Graduating students do not need tickets, however, they do need to register to attend and request tickets for their guests.
  • Registration to participate in the ceremony and request guest tickets will be available later in Spring 2014. Eligible students will receive an email from their respective school with the registration link.
  • Eligible students will be required to log-in with their UNI and password in order to gain access to register and request guest tickets. Upon registering, students will be prompted to select the amount of guest tickets they require for their families and guests.
  • If a student does not plan to participate in the ceremony, there is no need to register.
  • All guests over the age of three (3) must have a ticket to the ceremony and will be required to show it to enter the Morningside Campus.
  • The selling or buying of University Commencement tickets is strictly prohibited. Please be cautious of offers to sell or buy Commencement tickets. Tickets hold no official resale value and may be an unauthorized copy, therefore deemed unusable and denied on University Commencement day. Commencement tickets are solely for the purpose of allowing the friends and relatives of graduating students to attend the ceremony. All unwanted tickets should be returned to the respective school if a graduate or guest(s) no longer plan to attend University Commencement.
  • Graduating students who wish to participate in the ceremony must wear their caps and gowns and carry their University ID in order to gain entry through one of the designated upper campus entrances to line up for the procession.
  • Those who graduated before May 2014 and no longer hold University IDs should bring a photo ID and their Commencement registration confirmation email or a letter from their school on University stationery indicating their participation in the ceremony.
  • Beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Commencement Day and lasting until the end of the ceremony, navigation across campus will be difficult.  Therefore, we strongly urge all graduating students to pick up their caps and gowns prior to the morning of the event.
